Who are these classes for?
These classes are for beginner to intermediate ukulele players who love old jazz tunes and swing music.
The Intro to Swing Uke classes are intended for players who are curious about jazz ukulele. This class is great for beginners and those who are new to playing swing on the uke.
The Swing, Sing and Solo classes is intended for singers who want to support their singing with interesting, engaging strumming, and who also want to venture into the world of jazz soloing, through scatting and uke solos.
The Chord Melody track is for those players passionate about making their uke sing sweetly, who want to delicately (or sometimes more strongly!) weave together harmonies and melodies on the uke.
Overall, these classes are for people who wanna have a WHOLE DANG LOTTA FUN!
Who are these classes NOT for?
As a teacher, I love digging into the details and working in a slow, progressive, methodical manner.
If you don’t like focusing on details and repeating exercises to refine aspects of your playing, or if you prefer a more oblique teaching style (“I just need the general idea and then I’m good to go!”) then I may not be the teacher for you.

What level uke player is this for?
If you are a beginner, you’ve come to the right place! The Intro to Swing Uke class is the one for you. I normally recommend that folks stay in the Intro class for about 3 months, until they have learned the strumming techniques that I consider fundamental to the jazz uke practice.
When you register for the Swing Ukulele Academy, you also immediately get access to the complete archive of uke workshops, so if it were me, I’d go poking around in the more intermediate lessons just to see what I could do!
The Swing, Sing and Solo classes are designed with beginner and intermediate uke players in mind. These classes are meant to stretch your knowledge of technique and increase your vocal range, jazz repertoire, and the number of your chords you can play from your ukulele chord dictionary.
Some of the Chord Melody classes are beginner-friendly, but most of them are more appropriate for intermediate players. Many Chord Melody arrangements require barre chords or for the player to know several inverions of various chords.
If you’re asking if you know enough, I firstly want to send you so much encouragement and love. YES, jazz and chord melody can be intimidating, and YES, you can totally do this!
If you’re still not sure, I’m happy to chat with you about it! Schedule a free 20 minute discovery call to find out if the classes are right for you.
